Overview Since 2001, Canada Safeway has been a valued philanthropic partner of the CBCF and to date has contributed over $9 million across Canada through their extraordinary in-store fundraising efforts. As a result they have helped fund critical breast cancer research, treatment, early diagnosis and detection, and awareness programs. Canada Safeway inspires their employees to be philanthropists by dedicating an employee from each store to be the Team Captain of the fundraising campaign who works together with the staff to fundraise. In addition, Canada Safeway provides a nationwide awareness day (October 22, 2011) to educate customers about breast health.
October 22, 2011 is Canada Safeway Breast Cancer Awareness Day in 224 stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario. On this weekend, Canada Safeway employees and Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation volunteers will show their commitment to the cause by participating in the Get Pink'd! Program, and encouraging Canada Safeway customers to become involved as well!

Responsibilities Get Pink'd! at Canada Safeway
At the store entrance, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation volunteers will greet Canada Safeway customers and encourage them to join employees in supporting the Foundation by making a suggested $5 minimum donation for a Get Pink'd button. Volunteers will encourage participants who buy a button to wear it, and anything pink, all weekend to show their support.
Additional breast health information and pink ribbons will be made available at the Foundation table to give away to customers. At the conclusion of the shift, volunteers will give all collected donations to designated Safeway staff.
Volunteers are encouraged to dress in Pink that day, and wear comfortable shoes. You will be talking to lots of customers, and handling some donations. Therefore, all volunteers will need to have an up-to-date volunteer application on file with the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation
