Overview Practices Forester Salary $53,537.59 - $66,868.18 annually 4 positions available: Williams Lake (1), Vernon (1 permanent, 1 temporary), Grand Forks (1) The Practices Forester is accountable for performing a wide variety of professional and technical services to support the development and operational stages of pre and post Timber Sales License awards and active harvest operations within a Field Team. Responsibilities include operational planning, cut blocks and forest road layout and development, monitoring and evaluation of harvest operations, and silviculture activities. The Practices Forester is responsible for ensuring all activities associated with these responsibilities are consistent with BCTS business and financial goals and objectives and are technically effective and appropriate. Experience and Qualifications In order for applicants to be considered for this position, their resume must clearly demonstrate that they have the following education and experience: Bachelor of Science in Forestry or Resource Management and 2 years of current related forestry experience; OR Completion of the pupil program and 3 years of related forestry experience; OR An equivalent combination of experience and education. NOTE: Related forestry experience is defined as: higher level or operational planning, forest tenure field development, tenure management, silviculture, harvest operations or engineering; Must be registered, or immediately eligible for registration, as a Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) Applicants who do not meet the professional requirement may be considered at a lower level, subject to confirmation of eligibility for registration as a Forester in Training immediately upon employment with the Ministry. Applicants must contact ABCFP to confirm their eligibility. Experience organizing and managing complex concurrent initiatives. Demonstrated experience in contract monitoring and administration. Demonstrated experience working in a computerized forestry database management system such as; Cengea RESOURCES, Plant wizard, Survey wizard or RESULTS. Preference may be given to applications with experience in Forest development.
