Overview BC Public Service Ministry of Justice Victoria, B.C. Are you interested in a unique part-time role? Consider becoming a Community Coroner! Community Coroners serve an important role in our communities. We are seeking individuals who have experience in working effectively with community stakeholders, conducting investigative inquiries, who possess sound judgment and excellent communication skills. The majority of the work will entail attendance at scenes of death and gathering preliminary information, assessing the circumstances, liaising with police and other emergency responders, and providing information and assistance to family. This is a perfect role for someone seeking a challenging and rewarding part-time position. Under the Direction of the Regional Coroner, you will work as an "as-and-when-required with no designated term date" medico-legal investigator. The background preferred for community coroners is previous education and experience in legal, medical or investigative fields. Experience and Qualifications Completion of a degree or diploma in a health, legal, or social sciences field plus 5 years experience in a related field; OR An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Preference may be given to applicants with an undergraduate degree or greater in the health, legal or social sciences disciplines and/or applicants with a strong working knowledge of medical terminology.
