Responsibilities DESCRIPTION
Co-ordinates and manages daily work load of all staff Co-ordinates requests or recommends resource planning e.g. need for additional staff or equipment Handles performance and attendance management issues (with input from Sr. Analysts) Develops production efficiencies Elevates significant & complex resource issues to the Laboratory Manager Lead and develop staff. This includes responsibility for recruitment of new employees, setting objectives, evaluating performance & expectations, coaching and mentoring, working jointly with employees in the development of their career path, ensuring that adequate training is provided. Develop and maintain a positive work environment for employees. Provide technical assistance to staff. Provide solutions that will make the lab more effective, productive and competitive. Input into the development of strategic plans with the objective of preparing the lab for continued growth Act as a positive change agent in supporting AGAT's new initiatives (operational and cultural) Provide a safe environment for staff and customers. Ensure that required training is available and certificates up to date. Create ways to optimize human and equipment resources. Develop and nurture strong communication channels with coordinators and all staff Ensure adherence to AGAT's policies, ISO certification and Health and Safety policies.

Experience and Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS [Minimum Requirements]:
BSc or technical diploma in Chemistry or equivalent. Excellent understanding of the quality requirements of ISO certification. Skills: problem solving, coaching, open communication, organization, Commitment to the production of accurate and timely results Experience in a laboratory environmental and with lab equipment considered an asset Supervisory experience preferred
