The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences Established: 1958 (Originally known as the Toronto Institute of Medical Technology before acquiring its present name in 1966). Number of Students Programs The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences offers 15 post-diploma and certificate programs to health care professionals who want to further their career opportunities. In order to be admitted into most programs, students must either be professionally certified, hold a health care-related degree or diploma, or have professional work experience in a related health care field. The Institute also has a number of programs for individuals contemplating a career in the heath care field as a means of evaluating whether or not such a career is what they want. Additionally, the Institute offers specialty programs to new immigrant health care practitioners designed to educate them in the requirements needed to work in Canada.
