Firefighter and Fire Science Programs, Courses and Degrees in Ontario

• Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Program - Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Algonquin College's 40-week Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training certificate will equip students with the knowledge, skills, and training to pursue a career or career advancement in Firefighting. Through theoretical, laboratory, and practical based training 'students will develop a sound understanding of fire science principles and practices of fire prevention, fire suppression, rescue, emergency care as well as community service.'
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education And Training - Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Cambrian College's 1-year, 3-semester Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training prepares students for a career in fire fighting. Based upon 'the revised Ontario Firefighter Standards and the Ontario Fire Marshal Firefighter Curriculum,' the Program provides participants with 'practical skills and testing in both simulated and controlled live fire training scenarios.' During the final semester, students will have the opportunity participate in 2 work experience placements in relevant fire department environments.
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training Program - Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Conestoga College's 2-year Diploma in Law and Security Administration/Police Foundations allows students to develop specialization in either Law and Security Administration or Police Foundations. The former prepares students for careers in various areas of `private and public law enforcement' and security. The Police Foundations focus, on the other hand, readies learners for 'entry-level positions in public policing.'
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training - Confederation College
  Confederation College's Police Foundations program is designed for 'students who are seriously considering a career in policing.' The Program equips candidates 'with the academic requirements essential to succeed as a Police Officer.'
  
  
• Firefighter - Pre-service, Education and Training - Durham College
  Durham College's 1-year, Ministry approved, Certificate in Court Support Services is a specialized program designed to 'meet the high standards of the Ontario Courts and a variety of other professional organizations.' The Program provides students 'with the specialized knowledge and skill required to work in various court support staff capacities.'
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training - Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Georgian College's 2-year Police Foundations diploma prepares students for a career in policing or related areas, like private investigation or private security. Candidates will be trained in the academic, practical, and physical abilities to pass the various entrance assessments, examinations, programs, and/or general requirements that police departments, as well as 'related jurisdictions and justice professions,' may require as part of their hiring process, particularly the Ontario Constable Selection Standards.
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training - Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning
  Humber College's 1-year, 3-semester Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training certificate equips students with the knowledge, skills, and training to pursue a career or career advancement in Firefighting. The Program combines 'basic-level theoretical Firefighting knowledge with considerable practical skills development.' Learners will also have the opportunity to partake in 'a work placement in an active fire station
  
  
• Fire Science Technology - Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Lambton College's Fire Science Technology program provides Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training (PFET) program graduates 'with the necessary job skills to perform entry-level duties in a variety of fire protection fields.' Students must be graduates of the PFET to be eligible for Fire Science Technology program.
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training - Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Lambton College's 1-year, 3-semester Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training certificate prepares studentsto pursue a career or career advancement in Firefighting. The Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs and the Office of the Fire Marshal, through the Endorsement Review Board, though not its method of delivery, endorse the Program's curriculum.
  
  
• Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training - Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology
  Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology's Pre-Service Firefighter Education Training program, offered both on-campus and via distance education, prepares students for a career in Firefighting 'through vocational courses in Firefighting, generic skills, general education courses.'

  Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology's 3-semester Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training-to-Paramedic Bridging program is designed for graduates of the Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training program to bridge into the College's 'Paramedic program.' The latter program equips students with 'the skills and knowledge needed to provide emergency care in the pre-hospital setting.'

  Seneca College's 2-year Fire Protection Engineering Technician Diploma prepares students for a career 'in developing and implementing design and business solutions for the fire industry.' Students are also given the opportunity to 'complete endorsed firefighter training.' The Program is highly regarded in North America and is associated and affiliated with some of the foremost associations in the Firefighting field.

  Seneca College's 1-year (3-semester) Firefighter - Pre-service Education and Training Certificate prepares students for careers as firefighters, or related positions, in Ontario. The Program has been developed in partnership with the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC).and Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) with additional input from 'local fire departments.'

  Sir Sandford Fleming College's 1-year, 3-semester Pre-Service Firefighter Education and Training certificate prepares students for careers in Firefighting.
