The Justice Institute of British Columbia, via the Corrections and Community Justice Division, provides 5 preparatory courses for individuals aspiring to a career as a Correctional Officer or in related fields of criminal justice. These courses may be of particular interest to persons currently employed or volunteering in adult and/or youth correctional institutions or settings.
- Family Justice Counsellors - Justice Institute of British Columbia
The Corrections and Community Justice Division of the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) offers a series of courses for those interested in a career as a family justice counselor or a private family mediator, and which may lead to certification as a Family Justice Counselor in British Columbia. Certified Counselors normally work for the BC Ministry of Attorney General - Family Justice Services Division in various locations throughout the Province.
- Family Mediation Certificate - Justice Institute of British Columbia
The Justice Institute of British Columbia's Corrections and Community Justice Division (CCJD) and the Centre for Conflict Resolution jointly offer the Family Mediation Certificate program. The latter is primarily designed for individuals interested in specializing 'in mediation within a family context.' The Program is 280 hours, or 40 days, in duration consisting of a combination of CCJD and Centre for Conflict Resolution courses and a final assessment.

Youth Supervisors typically work for the Ministry of Children and Family Development - Youth Justice with youth in trouble with the law.
