- Carpentry and Woodworking - Assiniboine Community College
Assiniboine Community College's 10-month Carpentry and Woodworking Certificate exposes students to pre-employment skills 'in 18 course areas of study within the carpentry trade.' The Program, which includes a 3-week work experience component, aims 'to produce graduates who can understand and implement techniques of quality craftsmanship.'

Assiniboine Community College's Carpenter Apprenticeship fulfills the in-class requirements of a carpentry apprenticeship program in Manitoba. In Manitoba, apprentices must complete 4 levels of at least 1800 hours each, in-class and on-the-job training combined. An apprenticeship will normally take about 4 years to complete.
- Carpentry-E - Red River College of Applied Arts, Science and Technology
Red River College's 2-year Carpentry-E program, whose courses will only be held during the evening and/or weekends, prepares students to enter the carpentry trade. Upon successful completion of the Program, graduates will be eligible to receive advanced credit, of 'one or two levels of in-school training towards,' towards an apprenticeship program, should they decide to pursue that option.'

Red River College's 1-year Carpentry and Woodworking Certificate program is prepares students for entry-level employment and/or to pursue apprenticeship training in 'the carpentry trade.' Upon successful completion of the Program, graduates will be eligible to receive advanced credit towards an apprenticeship program, including 'one or two levels of in-school training.' As a result of the high interest in the Carpentry and Woodworking Certificate program, the latter is only open to residents of Manitoba.

Red River College's 5-month Introduction to Trades certificate program 'program is designed to introduce Aboriginal students to and prepare them for entry' into the various trades programs offered at the College. A unique aspect of the Program is that it will incorporate a First Nations perspective that will enable 'students to connect with their cultural values, traditions, and beliefs, reinforcing positive cultural identity and enhancing self-esteem and pride.'

An apprenticeship is a method of learning a trade through a combination of periods of in-class, technical/theoretical education and periods of paid, on-the-job training. In Manitoba, completing a carpentry apprenticeship consists of 4 levels of at least 1800 each, in-class and on-the-job components combined, and normally takes about 4 years. The University College of the North's Carpenter Apprenticeship fulfills the in-class requirements of an apprenticeship program.
