Northlands College Established: 1988 Number of Students Programs Northlands College offers a wide array of academic and career-oriented programs to residents of northern Saskatchewan including apprenticeships and trades-training, certificates, diplomas, undergraduate degrees, and university transfer. The College is particularly proficient in the areas of Basic Education, Business, Forestry, Health and Community Services, Literacy, Mining Training, and Oil and Sands Training. Apprenticeships, which are 2-5 years in duration, are available in Carpentry, Commercial Cooking, Cosmetology, Electrician, Heavy Equipment Mechanical Repair, Industrial Mechanic, and Plumbing and Gas-fitting. Pre-apprenticeship programs are also offered; these are 30-40 weeks in length and are designed to prepare students to enter Level 1 or 2 apprenticeship training. The College also carries offerings from the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology and has undergraduate Arts and Science credit courses from the Universities of Regina and Saskatchewan. Interesting Facts Northlands College provides educational services to adult learners in northern Saskatchewan via facilities in Air Ronge, Buffalo Narrows, Creighton, and La Ronge along with regional centres in many of the north’s 40 communities. |
