Northern Lakes College Established: 1970 (Originally known as Alberta Vocational College - Lesser Slave Lake; in 1999 the College's name was changed to Northern Lakes College). Number of Students Programs Northern Lakes College offers a wide array of academic upgrading, bachelor degree, career and trades training, certificate, diploma, and university transfer programs. The College provides a 4-year Bachelor of Education program, with a minor in Cree, in collaboration with the University of Alberta. In addition, career training options are available in Computer Technician, Forestry Technician, Power Engineering 4th Class, Production Field Operations, Survey Theory and Calculations, and Woodland Equipment Operation. Moreover, an agreement reached in 2005 between the College and the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) means that the former will be expanding its career and technical courses and programs in the near future. Interesting Facts Northern Lakes College has established partnerships with business and industry through which it receives information regarding economic trends which enable it develop and/or re-develop courses and programs in order to make them relevant vis-à-vis the demands of the modern economy. |
