The Victoria Conservatory of Music, established in 1964, is dedicated to infuse in its students a love of music and the arts while pursuing brilliance in performance. Victoria Conservatory of Music is a professional music school and is registered as a nonprofit society that welcomes students from all strata of the society. The college provides classes & programs in many musical instruments and disciplines. Since its inception, the college has been providing music education for Greater Victoria. It caters to around 2000 students through its Community School and Children's Programs, Professional School, Summer Programs, and Music Therapy Program. Through the combination of education, career training, performance, and therapeutic programs, the college offers a range of truly amazing experiences. The faculty members of the Victoria Conservatory of Music are made up of over 100 teachers, who offer training in many musical instruments, voice, theory and composition, children's programs, and music therapy. These highly proficient faculties also perform, conduct, compose and record. The college has students arriving to it from across the capital region and from across Canada and abroad. The student population is a mix of infants and adults. The young lot is interested in obtaining a music education and the senior people come here to rediscover the skills and enrich their lives. The Victoria Conservatory of Music offers training in a wide variety of instruments and disciplines, including piano, guitar, woodwinds, bass, percussion, strings, voice, theory, composition, music history, jazz, and more – at all levels. The college offers opportunities to perform in ensembles, orchestras, and choirs, as well as in recitals.
