The Progressive Training School opened in 1994 to provide Job Club services for WSIB recipients in Toronto. The company adopted the HRDC Job Club model and introduced new sections and basic exercises that would help disabled students during their job search process. In 2001, the institute offered courses that were strategically designed to improve literacy skills. They offered courses that were an alternative to English as a Second Language and introduced academic upgrading programs. The programs offered by the institute prepare students for entrance examinations, private institutions or employment. The programs are created bearing cost and time in mind. Each student’s progress is carefully monitored and evaluated. The programs are designed specifically with a student’s career goal in mind and therefore use practical work related exercises. This helps a student prepare for the transition toward employment. Regular homework, tests and monthly reports keep students on track. The Institute offers certificate, diploma and upgrading programs. The programs include Automotive Service Advisor, Call Center Certificate, Customer Service, Dispatch, and Inventory Control for Auto parts, Inventory Warehouse, Office administration and many more. The diploma programs include the Office Administration Clerk Diploma Program, the Auto-Service Advisor Diploma Program and the Book-Keeper Diploma Program. The upgrading programs include the academic upgrading, English as a second language, general education development tests, credit courses and computer training programs. Progressive Training Center is committed to teaching their students all that is required for education and employment. A comprehensive list of courses, flexible schedules and courses designed by the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities ensures success for each of the students.
