The Professional Transport Driver Training School is a locally owned operational school. The school aims to bring forth professional and qualified drivers in the trucking industry and has been doing so since its opening in 1988. The institute was one of the first schools to train on industry standard trailers, train on A and B trainers, provide night driving during training, offering on-job training and much more. The course teaches the student the various aspects of professional driving. The orientation period teaches the student safety around trucks and definitions of vehicles. Later the students learn how to inspect vehicles and the proper pre-trip procedures. They are also taught about enroute and post-trip inspections. The course includes basic operations such as control systems, starting the engine and moving the truck, braking system etc. Further the course instructs on to the shifting basics and shift patterns, backing, safe operating practices, advanced operating practices, and non-vehicle activities which include maintenance, log books etc. It is important that the student is 18 years or older in order to get a Class 1 license in Manitoba. If the student plans to drive in the United States, he must be 21 years or older. Training sessions begin ever 4 weeks. The institute also offers customized group training programs. The institute offers long haul job placement advice and assistance and helps students find work with a transport company after graduation. There are no limits for the age of a professional driver. The Professional Transport Driver Training School insists that you meet the medical requirements before joining the institute. Students are counseled by a career consultant before they join a program. The career consultant helps to place the students in the right field.
