Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts was founded in 1996 by Sue Singer. It is located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The institute provides world-class training in culinary arts, and baking and pastry arts. The institute is accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia. It prepares students for entry-level positions in the hospitality industry. Students are given intensive hands-on training along with theoretical knowledge. Ninety percent of the program focuses on practical training and ten percent on theory. Under the direct supervision of Chef instructor, students get a chance to run the restaurant and also provide catering services for private functions. Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts offers two diploma programs: Culinary Arts Program and Baking and Pastry Arts Program. Both of these programs are six-month diploma programs. Students are given instructions in the fundamentals of classic French and International cuisine. The curriculum also focuses on educating students about nutrition, kitchen efficiency, stocks, and knife skills. Industry chefs are invited to give lectures and offer career advice to students. Graduates get lifetime placement assistance. Every graduate is ready for immediate entry into the hospitality industry. It is well known that there is a growing demand for chefs. Graduates can look forward to a career as caterers, chefs, food writers, and some can even start their own restaurant business. Sixty percent of Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts graduates were looking for a career change.
