Profile of Career College/Trade School
The North East Native Advancing Society (NENAS) aims to educate and provide the means for a quality life to Inuit people in British Columbia. The North East Native Advancing Society provides vocational training to Inuit people, as well as healthcare, economic development and community strengthening service. The campus is located in Fort St. John, British Columbia. The North East Native Advancing Society was established in 1990, and since then has worked with Human Resources Development Canada to raise the standard of living of Inuit people. In 2000, it was accredited with the Private Post Secondary Commission of British Columbia. NENAS’ aim also includes making Inuit youth more employable in various local businesses. NENAS works in partnership with Northern Lights College and First Nations Education Center. Since it has partnerships with Petro Canada and Duke Energy too, it has helped many youth find jobs in the growing petrochemicals and oil-drilling sector. For general students, the North East Native Advancing Society offers employment counseling, job search help, career planning, resume writing and other services. The North East Native Advancing Society also organizes career fairs to help those looking for employment. It runs the Skills Link program to help youth looking for jobs.
