The New Skills Health College is located at Midland Avenue, Toronto, Canada. This college was established in 1981 in the name of New Skills Vocational School. Today, the New Skills Health College provides courses in Medical Office Assistant, Standardized Bridging, Personal Support Worker and Personal Attendant. All the programs are registered under the Private Career Colleges Act. The Medical Office Assistant Program deals with billing, bookkeeping, patient data collection, transcription, processing, scheduling and telephony. Students are also taught clinical theory. The Personal Support Worker Program has 500 hours of training, 20 of it theory and the rest spent training in rehabilitation centers and private healthcare centers. The Bridging course aims to bring healthcare workers up to date on the latest in the field. This is an advanced course meant for people who have already done a course in Healthcare Provider. The New Skills Health College also offers Personal Attendant Courses in 2 modules. After graduation, students can work in retirement homes, nursing homes, hospitals, palliative care and community homes. The rigorous training provided by the New Skills Health College makes it easy for the students to get jobs after graduation. A secondary school diploma is necessary in order to qualify for the courses at this college. English proficiency is also a must, as is training in First Aid. Having experience in the field of social service will also count.
