Montessori Training Centre of British Columbia is registered and accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia and the Association Montessori Internationale, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Founded in 1982, it is a registered non-profit. Montessori Training Centre of British Columbia offers programs that train people to work with children between 3 and 6 years of age. Students learn how the child, with the correct guidance and aids, creates his or her own personality. Students are taught to prepare a beautiful and orderly environment using a variety of materials and presentations that enabling the children to gain more and more knowledge and develop. They are trained to choose activities and tasks to interact with the child which could develop and determine each child’s developmental needs. Successful graduates receive an AMI Montessori diploma and become eligible to register as Early Childhood Educator in British Columbia if they complete a few other requirements as well. There is a great demand for AMI Montessori trained teachers. Students are provided assistance in selecting a financial aid scheme and help is given them with regard to housing and accommodation. The instructors are all highly skilled and certified with years of practical experience ensuring that they pass on the knowledge gained through their personal experiences. Many of the Montessori schools in the Lower Mainland are used for observation and to provide practical training to the students.
