Profile of Career College/Trade School
The Maple Leaf Academy was started in 1991 as an institute for teaching English to immigrants and foreign students. The Maple Leaf Academy does not limit its staff to just teachers in the field of language teaching, but also employs dramatists, writers, and editors. This gives students theoretical knowledge of English and also enables them to use the language competently in daily life. A 15:1 student-to-teacher ratio makes training effective and easy. The college uses other tools like multimedia for training. This training method makes it easier for detecting and correcting pronunciation mistakes in students. The courses at Maple Leaf Academy are recognized by both Alberta Human Resources Employment and Employment and Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The English Development for Gainful Employment Program includes a placement with a company for three months, allowing the student to learn the language as well as use it in workplace situations. Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada and Corporate ESL are some of the other courses offered at the Maple Leaf Academy. Training for TOEFL is a popular course as well. Apart from helping foreigners and immigrants learn English, the Maple Leaf Academy helps native speakers brush up their language skills.
