 Profile of Career College/Trade School

Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design was founded in 1981. The school is located in Vancouver’s Gastown area and is easily accessible. The faculty is highly qualified professionals that guide students to become more innovative and creative in making an impact on the fashion world. They aid students in designing and creating the garments; and because classes are small, each student is assured of personal attention. The fashion design program offered by the Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design has 3 terms of 13 weeks’ duration each. The first term classes are compulsory and are basically an introductory course, and students are also taught about the history of clothing. Thus, the students get a firm foundation aided by helpful and expert professional instructors. The second term deals with a comprehensive study of fabrics and students have to design a mini-collection. The third term deals with building a portfolio that helps establish them in the fashion world with a job of their choice. Additional courses such as draping, surface interest, and business are added depending on the availability of instructors. Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design offers students numerous short evening courses to initiate them into the world of fashion design. Many of the students end up enrolling for full-time courses. Beginner’s Sewing/Pattern Making, Fashion Illustration, Advanced Pattern Making, and Surface Interest are offered but are subject to the number of student enrollment. Scholarships are also available.
