Canadian Avalanche Association Training School is a fully bonded and provincially licensed private post-secondary educational institution. The programs offered by the institution are recognized by the industry as well as by the guide training organizations. The programs are offered primarily in British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec during winter as well as in several other locations. The minimum age for qualifying is 19. Canadian Avalanche Association Training Schools offers students a chance to receive avalanche awareness and safety training. These programs are designed for those who spend time for fun or who have to work in avalanche threatened areas. Programs are offered for those who wish to learn the basics as well as for those who want to upgrade or brush up their skills. Canadian Avalanche Association Training Schools offers a Avalanche First Response Training Program that has been organized under the supervision of the National Search and Rescue Secretariat Canada. Successful graduates may seek employment in snowmobiling recreational facilities, ski resorts, logging and mining firms, as well as in guide training institutions etc. Canadian Avalanche Association Training Schools offers public avalanche forecasts, reports, warnings etc. It also offers an Avalanche Skills Training (AST) Program that was developed and is promoted by the institution. Course materials, videos and reference books are used to teach and train the students. It also offers Backcountry Avalanche Workshops that are informative and interesting. The institution also promotes avalanche research. Avalanche awareness and safety is also promoted amongst schoolchildren.
