British Columbia Institute of Holistic Studies is a training facility for holistic studies, integrated therapies and energy concepts. It focuses on educating its students to become compassionate practitioners in the natural health profession. The BC Alliance of Aromatherapy and the BC Association of Practicing Aroma therapist recognize the Institute. Accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency, the school offers several specialized courses. The basic and advanced courses in Aromatherapy include certificate courses in standard aromatherapy practitioner blending and essential oils. The bodywork course provides efficiency in massage, lymphatic massage, including breast and chair massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, tapping, hot rock therapies, and spa techniques. The study of human physiology and anatomy is covered in the Anatomy & Physiology course with special focus on the inter-relationships between systems. The energy work program teaches Reiki, energy concepts and their theory and practice. The Holistic Practitioner Program combines several courses so that the student can successfully practice natural therapies like Iridology, emotional release tapping, reflexology etc. The Institute also has a practical course in Product Knowledge and Development where students are taught to make spa and body products according to the holistic principles, selecting the right ingredients and other related topics.
