Les Ateliers de danse moderne de Montréal inc. was founded in 1981 and is an institution specializing in training contemporary dancers. It is accredited by the ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport du Québec. Les Ateliers de danse moderne de Montréal inc. offers professional training in modern dance taught by professionally renowned teachers. Classes are held for 9 hours a week and are open to people with at least 2 years of dance training. The program teaches students the basic principles of modern dance, helps them develop good posture and effective coordination. Students are taught warm-up and stretching exercises utilizing the Limon, Graham and Cunningham methods. A musician adds to the experience. The school also offers professional training auditions that are open to people in good health with a high school diploma or its equivalent. Students who wish to qualify are recommended to take the preparatory classes offered at the institution. It is an intensive three-year training program that helps develop the students into versatile performers. Internationally renowned choreographer, dancers and instructors make it a very inspiring experience for the students. Financial aid is available to the students as deserving candidates may qualify for loans and bursary programs offered by the ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport. Students have to enroll for the summer school each year which lasts for 3 weeks. Successful graduates have fulfilling careers in theater, television etc.
