The Academy of Cosmetology specializes in two programs; Hairdressing and the Esthetics Program delivered in a supportive and professional environment. The hairdressing program gives the student a basic and advanced foundation and training in the skills and theory of hairstyling. When students complete this program, they are awarded with a Diploma recognized by the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia. The Esthetics program, a branch of Cosmetology, imparts the basic practical skills and knowledge that is a prerequisite in the personal care profession so that students can provide competent service in skin care and hair removal. Successful completion entitles the student to a Diploma recognized by the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia. The college offers special cosmetology and esthetics services at subsidized rates for the public with group discounts where applicable. This helps students practice their skills on the extensive, established clientele so that they can earn valuable work experience, building their confidence.
