AB Dog Grooming School is a private school located in the province of Alberta, which specifically caters to teaching grooming and styling techniques for different breeds of dogs. The courses focus is on the practical aspects of training with only about 20% of the course being dedicated to theory. Students may opt for courses that will equip them to become professional roughers, finishers or groomers. All course material will cover aspects ranging from animal behavior, understanding basic concepts of animal nutrition to how to distinguish abnormalities or sickness. AB Dog Grooming School will teach students the best way to handle dogs when preparing them for a grooming or styling session. This includes understanding animal psychology, learning how to pick up a dog and lead it into the grooming area. Students will also become familiar with recognizing sickness or infections in a dog as well as the basics of feeding and nutrition. The courses will also cover the correct method for bathing a dog, drying techniques, clipping styles and hand-eye co-ordination. Students will also learn about how to deal with short hair and long hair dogs as well as how to maintain their grooming tools and equipment. These courses will also cover basic office management skills such as answering the telephone and booking appointments for clients.
